Iran threatens Italy

There are more signs of tension between Italy and the Islamic world. Tomorrow, in Rome, a demonstration in support of Israel and against Iranian policies, is scheduled. The Iranian president, Ahmadinejad, warned that that is a 'sionist' move on the part of Italy.

Unfortunately, Berlusconi has in mind Italian elections more than the actual security of the country. His meeting with Bush was used as one of the many steps towards the elections.

Berlusconi should, however, concern himself with a sound external and internal politics. His political case has been long compromised; he cannot save the boat (its party) and sink the country. His behaviour is showing once more that his personal interest always trumps the public interest. This is bad news for Italy, as it is still one of the central objectives of terrorism.
